Ukrainian millers and bakers cut production in Jul-Dec 2011 by 4%

Grain Ukraine. According to official statistics, industrial production of bakery products in Ukraine since the beginning of a new grain season 2011/12 decreased by 4% versus the same period last season.
 
Thus, in the July-December 2011 bakeries produced 863,900 tons of bakery products versus 899,800 tons during July- December 2010.
 
It should be noted that industrial production of flour also decreased, despite of the larger grain harvest this year. Recall that the wheat harvest is estimated at 22.3 million tons against 16.8 million tons in 2010/11.
 
During July-December 2011 flour mills produced 3.9% less wheat and wheat-rye flour than this period last year – 1,105,000 tons versus 1,150,000 tons. 
 
At the end of December the stocks of wheat flour in domestic  flour mills increased to 48,700 tons from 44,800 tons month ago, which is in line with last year level (48,800 tons at the end of December 2010).
 
Despite the decline in output, exports of wheat flour increased.
During the six months of the season 2011/12, Ukraine exported 60,000 tons of flour, which in 2 times more than the same period 2010/11. The main importers in 2011/12 are Moldova (35% of exports), Indonesia (32%) and Tunisia (12%)
